How Long Does It Take to Build My System, and When Will It Ship?

Crystal Quest sells two different kinds of items and they move on two different timelines: in-stock catalog items that leave quickly, and built, made-to-order systems that go through a build and test sequence after your order comes in. The sections below walk through both timelines, what happens to a built system before it leaves, and how to get a current status on your order.

The Two Timelines: In-Stock Items vs Built Systems

In-stock catalog items (replacement cartridges, filtration media, components, standard filters, smaller point-of-use systems) typically ship the same business day.
Built, made-to-order systems (most whole-house, reverse osmosis, softener, commercial, and custom systems) are built and tested after your order comes in, then shipped. Most standard RO systems are ready to ship in about 3 to 5 business days, and most whole house systems are ready to ship in about 1-3 business days.

The Order, Build, Test, Ship Sequence

Crystal Quest is a U.S. water filtration manufacturer, founded in 1994, and made-to-order systems are assembled and checked before they leave the facility. For a built system the sequence is: your order is confirmed, the system is built to its configuration, it goes through testing, and quality assessment is the final step before it ships. That assesment step is why a built system does not go out the same day a cartridge would.

Custom, Large, and Engineered Systems

For larger, engineered, or fully custom systems (commercial and industrial units, multi-vessel skids, and other bespoke builds), the timeline is set by the size and configuration of the build and is confirmed on your quote or with your point of contact. Many commercial and institutional systems can still be ready within days of a confirmed order; larger custom builds can take longer, and your rep will give you the specific window.

Build Time vs Transit Time

The build window above is the time your system spends in our facility. Carrier transit time is counted from the ship date and is added on top. A holiday week or a busy production queue can also add a little time; if that affects your order, we will tell you.

How to Estimate When Your Order Will Ship

Identify what you ordered. Replacement cartridges, standard filters, and stocked parts are in-stock catalog items. Whole-house, reverse osmosis, softener, commercial, and custom systems are built to order, with very quick turn around times. If you are not sure which you have, contact support with your order number and we will confirm.
For an in-stock catalog item, expect same-business-day shipping. Orders placed by the daily cutoff (approximately 3 PM EST) typically ship that same business day.
For a built system, expect the order, build, assessment, ship sequence. Most standard reverse osmosis systems are ready to ship in about 3 to 5 business days, and in some cases less than 3 business days. Performance testing and quality review are the final steps, so a built system leaves only after it has been checked off.
For a custom, large, or engineered system, check your quote for the build window. These are designed and built to your specification, so the timeline reflects the configuration. Your rep confirms the specific window on the project, and many commercial systems are still ready within days of a confirmed order.
