How Do I Install a Bath Filter?
A simple guide to setting up your Crystal Quest bath ball filter for cleaner, healthier bathwater.
Why Use a Bath Ball Filter?
The Crystal Quest bath ball removes chlorine, chloramine, sediment, and other impurities from your bathwater, creating a gentler bathing experience for sofer skin and hair. Installation requires no tools and no modifications to your plumbing.
What's in the Box
- Bath ball filter housing with cartridge inside
- Standard handle
- Flex handle (alternative mounting option)
- Product manual
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Prepare the Cartridge
- Remove the bath ball from the box
- Unscrew the housing to open it and remove the cartridge
- Remove the wrapping from the cartridge inside
- Place the cartridge back into the housing (orientation doesn't matter)
- Screw the housing back together
2. Attach the Hanger
- Locate the two attachment points on the top of the bath ball
- Take the included hanger and push one end into one attachment point
- Push the other end into the second attachment point
- The hanger should now form an upside-down U shape anchored at both points on top of the bath ball
3. Hang the Bath Ball
Place the hanger over your bath faucet's diverter spout (the small lever or knob on top of the faucet). The bath ball should hang so that water flows directly into the filter when you turn on the tub.
Alternative Mounting Options
If your faucet doesn't have a diverter spout on top, you have two other options:
Option 1: Use the Included Flex Handle
Instead of the hanger, use the flex handle that came with your bath ball. Wrap it around the faucet to hold the bath ball in place under the water stream.
Option 2: Adhesive Hook (Sold Separately)
Purchase the bath ball metal anchor hook. Attach it to the top of your faucet with the adhesive back to create an artificial mounting point, then hang the bath ball from it just like you would with a diverter spout.
Using Your Bath Ball
- Position the bath ball so water flows directly into it as you fill the tub
- Let it hang throughout the filling process for maximum filtration
- Reduce water flow if overflowing to increase contact time, improve filtration, and channelize water
Care and Maintenance
After Each Use
- Allow it to dry between uses
- Store in a cool, dry location to prevent mold or mildew
Cartridge Replacement
- Replace every 6-12 months for maximum filtration performance.
- Signs it's time to replace: chlorine smell returns, filter media is discolored, or you notice reduced effectiveness
