Installing Your System: Working With a Licensed Plumber (and Crystal Quest's Video-Call Support)
You are not locked into any single installer with Crystal Quest. You're welcome to use any licensed plumber you prefer, and our technicians will work with that plumber directly by video call during the install so the job is done correctly. We also provide installation manuals and videos for our systems.
Crystal Quest has been manufacturing water filtration systems since 1994, and our systems are designed to install with standard plumbing fittings and standard tools. A competent licensed plumber can install them; the value of our video-call support is that our technician can confirm the layout, the connection points, and the startup flush on the spot, so your plumber does not have to guess.
You have three great paths, and you can mix them:
- Use your own licensed plumber, with our technicians on a video call to guide the install.
- Follow the manual and the install videos yourself if you are comfortable with the plumbing involved.
- Ask our team to check whether there is a plumber in our referral list near you (availability varies by location, so this is not guaranteed in every area).
Steps
- Decide who is doing the work: your own licensed plumber, yourself with our documentation, or a referral if one is available near you. If you want a referral, give us your location and we will check what we have in your area.
- Before the install, ask us for the installation manual and any install videos for your specific system so your plumber can review them ahead of time.
- Schedule the video-call support window with our team for the day of the install. Have the system, the fittings, and a phone or tablet with a camera ready at the install location.
- On the call, our technician will confirm the connection points (where the system ties into your line), the orientation and clearance, and any pre-filter or bypass setup before your plumber makes the final connections.
- After the plumbing is connected, flush the system at first use as directed before you rely on the water. See the related startup and flush guidance.
- Keep your order number and system model handy throughout, so we can match guidance to exactly what you received.
Safety / before you start
- A licensed plumber should make any permanent connection to your home plumbing, and the install must follow local plumbing code. If your install involves electrical work (for example a UV or a pump), use a qualified person for that portion.
- Before any work on an existing filtration system, shut off the feed water and relieve pressure at a nearby faucet or the system valve so the lines are depressurized.
- Confirm your incoming water pressure is within the system's rated range before install; some setups need a pressure reducer or a booster, which your plumber can advise on.
- Do not skip the first-use flush. Running the system before flushing can carry loose media dust and a break-in taste into your water.
