No Water Flow From Faucet

No water flow is usually caused by valve positioning, installation setup, air lock, or a localized plumbing issue—not a failed system.

If no water flows from a faucet after installing or servicing a Crystal Quest system, the issue is typically related to valves, bypass settings, air trapped in the system, or a faucet-specific component.

In most cases, water flow can be restored by checking a few key items.

Common Causes of No Water Flow

1. Valves Closed or System in Bypass

This is the most common cause.

  • Check inlet and outlet valves

  • Ensure the system is set to service mode, not bypass

  • Confirm any isolation or shutoff valves are fully open

Even partially closed valves can completely block flow.

2. Air Lock in the System

After installation or filter replacement, air may become trapped.

  • Air locks can temporarily stop water flow

  • Open the faucet fully and allow it to run for several minutes

  • Flow often resumes as air is purged

This is common with new installations.

3. Incorrect Filter Installation

If a cartridge or housing is installed incorrectly:

  • Flow may be blocked entirely

  • The system may not allow water to pass

Check that:

  • Filters are installed in the correct orientation

  • Housings are fully tightened

  • O-rings are properly seated

4. Faucet or Aerator Blockage

The issue may be localized to the faucet itself.

  • Remove and inspect the aerator

  • Sediment or debris may be blocking flow

  • Run water briefly with the aerator removed

If water flows without the aerator, cleaning or replacing it will resolve the issue.

5. Newly Installed Reverse Osmosis Systems

For RO systems:

  • The storage tank may be empty

  • It can take several hours for the tank to fill

  • No flow is normal until sufficient pressure builds

Check that the tank valve is open.

6. Plumbing or Supply Issues

In some cases, the issue is upstream of the system:

  • Main water supply valve partially closed

  • Recent plumbing work affecting the line

  • Well pump or pressure tank issues

Testing water flow at another faucet can help isolate this.

What to Do

  1. Confirm all valves are fully open

  2. Verify the system is not in bypass mode

  3. Allow time for air to purge

  4. Check filter orientation and housing installation

  5. Remove and clean the faucet aerator

  6. For RO systems, allow the tank time to fill
