# What's the Startup Checklist for My Whole House System?
## Follow this step-by-step guide to ensure your whole house water treatment system starts up safely and performs at its best.
### Pre-Startup Checks
Before turning on your system, complete these essential preparation steps:
#### Inspect the Installation
- Verify all plumbing connections are secure and properly tightened
- Confirm the bypass valve is in the correct position (service mode)
- Check that the drain line is properly connected and routed to an appropriate drain
- Ensure the brine tank (if applicable) is filled with the correct amount of salt
#### Electrical and Settings
- Confirm the unit is plugged into a grounded outlet
- Verify the control valve display is functioning
- Check that the time of day is set correctly on the controller
- Review regeneration settings match your household water usage
#### Water Supply Preparation
